After the initial shock wore off that we were going to Rome – ROME! – Ryan handed me a copy of Rome for Dummies and we relaxed, excitedly texted family, and hung out before our flight!
My mom gave us great advice on picking up a Roma Pass for our stay and it was WELL worth the €30 each! The pass gets you a ton of stuff – most importantly transport on the trains and buses and queue jump privileges – and made the entire trip go really smoothly. Since our hotel was pretty central, we walked to many of our destinations and took public transport for the return journey if we were crunched for time or had tired legs.
To be honest, the only hiccup we had travel-wise was the cheeky cab driver that tried to charge us €10 for a €5 fare on our first night. I generally don't yell at strangers, but 6 minutes and €7 later, we parted ways with him and I had thoroughly pissed off what had to be the angriest man in Rome.
Ah, well. I got almost my full change and, as he said, that was "coffee money." Except we used it for gelato. ;)
Happy Wednesday!

Oh the cab drivers in Rome are just a pain sometimes! I have experienced this a couple times!
ReplyDeleteIt was so absurd! He made up all sorts of fees as add-ons that we maybe (that's a BIG maybe) would have paid since we were so exhausted, but you know, he needed to mention that BEFORE we got in the cab. We had a good laugh over it though. ;)
Deletewhat a good looking couple you two make! I'm bit jelly about this Rome trip though haha ;)
ReplyDeleteYou should talk! <3
DeleteI am so in love with how you take photos Bobbi Doll! Roma seems so beautiful (as I've always known) but through you lens...what a marvel it is. Cab drivers are ...yeah.. But how amazing is that pass! I'll have to remember that for the future!

Ahhh, thank you, sweetheart! You'll definitely have to check out the Roma Pass. I'd recommend it to everyone! We got our money's worth on the first day alone!
DeleteI want to live in every one of these pictures. I actually teared up reading this post and yesterday's - what a sweet, loving, amazing surprise!
ReplyDeleteAnd now, at 10:56am, I want glasses of prosecco, plural, and a cup of gelato the size of my head. And carbonara. All of it. Can't wait to see more photos!
It was honestly the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me! I'm still kind of like, "Did we really do that?!"
DeleteI want all of those things right now. It's not even 1pm yet!
I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely jealous of all of your travels. One day (when we're done having kids and their old enough) I would love to travel. Sorry to hear about the taxi driver though lol. Other than that it sounds, and looks, like you had an amazing time in Rome! :)

We had a great time! And who says you need to wait? No day like today! <3
DeleteWe were big fans of the city passes in almost every city we visited. We always listed our "must-sees", "would like to sees", and "if there's time" sites, and if a significant number of the first two categories were included, we'd buy the pass. A few times we even found great places BECAUSE of the passes- so that was a great perk. My favorite thing in Venice was climbing the clock tower in St. Mark's Square (not the Campanile, although we also climbed it) and we were told the only way to get tickets to the clock tower was through having one of the city passes. So yay! And I'm glad the trip went well. As for overcharging cabbies... yep. Had some of those. Jerks.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome surprise!! I love your photos. It looks like such a gorgeous place!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautifully painful to see! I wish I were able to travel as much as you!!!! Rome?! Beautiful!
