snapseed for ipad.

Last week, I got to write a bit about Photoshop Touch for the iPad and in my research for that stumbled upon Snapseed! I usually don't go nuts for iPhone or iPad editing apps because I have the desktop version of Photoshop for the pictures that I take with my camera and usually am fine with the hipsterfying abilities of Instagram for iPhone photos. BUT! Snapseed was {and is, if you act quickly} the App of the Week, so you can actually score it for free {it's usually $4.99}.

I probably wouldn't have downloaded the app, free or not, because I didn't suspect that I'd get any use out of it, but I decided to open it up and fiddle between sending out proofs to see what it has to offer. Verdict: I really like it. I imported a few photos to my iPad from my beach day on Sunday and made a few minor edits with the application.

{edits: brightness, contrast, sharpening, center focus.}

{edits: brightness, contrast, tilt-shift, ambiance, white balance, grunge filter at 20%.}

{edits: cropping, brightness, contrast, white balance.}

{edits: drama filter at 90%.}

The interface is very easy to use {and kind of fun!} and changes happen in real-time. The best part is that you can easily compare the before and after before you make any changes. While it is definitely easier to use than Photoshop Touch, it also doesn't have the power of layers or cloning or any of that higher-level stuff. However, it's free {for now} and fun and has a few built in filters that you can work with for quick editing.

If you're in the mood for a new photo app on your iPhone or iPad I would check this one out while it's still $0!

Happy Tuesday!

I love hearing from you! I try to respond to comments by email, so if your email address isn't linked up to your profile I might have a hard time getting back to you (although I'll do my best to try). Of course, if you'd like to maintain your ninja status, I totally understand that as well!
